A new chapter for Moss Valley: a place to shop for local produce, enjoy good food and feel closer to where it all comes from.
Introducing Moss Valley Farm Shop and Kitchen
We’re excited to share our plans for a new farm shop and kitchen at 260–264 Derbyshire Lane, Norton Lees, on the former Co-op site near Graves Park.
Our idea is simple: bring the connection between our farm, our food and our customers into the heart of the neighbourhood. We want to create a welcoming place where you can pick up produce to take home, sit down for something to eat and meet the people behind your food.
A farm shop with roots in the Moss Valley
We’re the family behind Povey Farm and Moss Valley Fine Meats, with five generations of farming behind us. The proposed shop would give our farm-reared pork and locally produced food a new home on Derbyshire Lane, alongside produce from other independent local businesses.
We want to make it easier to buy local, ask questions about what you’re eating and support the farmers and producers working close to home.
A kitchen and a place to gather
Alongside the shop, our plans include a café seating area and food preparation facilities. Our vision for the kitchen is a relaxed, friendly space where the same care for good ingredients carries through to the food on your plate.
Whether you’re calling in while shopping locally, meeting a friend or visiting nearby Graves Park, we hope it will become a place you enjoy spending time.
Bringing the site back to life
The proposal would bring the vacant former Co-op site back into use, with a new farm shop and café, improved landscaping and provision for parking, cycle storage and accessible access. We want the project to make a positive contribution to Derbyshire Lane while supporting local food businesses and creating employment opportunities.
Where we are now
The Farm Shop and Kitchen is at the planning stage. The proposals are subject to planning approval, and we haven’t announced an opening date yet.

In the meantime
Our new online shop is coming soon and will offer collection only from Povey Farm when it opens. You can order directly from the butchery in the meantime. Thank you for supporting our family business as we work towards this next chapter.
